NC files are numeric control files that are generated from CAD/CAM using a post processor to interpret. The post processor extracts commands that are used to operate a machine.
NC files are imported from CAD, processed by STRUMIS where commands are extracted by the post processor and then named in the workstation setup. When the Work Order is sent to Production and the process that corresponds to the desired workstation is required, STRUMIS will output the CAM file to the output folder where the machine will receive them.
From the workstation settings:
relates to dstv - specify what's in nc file header
only modify cam through production control
see dstv standards
one nc file per instance of mark item.
because machine needs info presented differently for it to work.
must nest if you use a + file (ie with nesting extensions)
NC
Master nc file is imported as cam /dstv or manually created in detailed nesting.
nested cam - include cam files during nesting if you take out mitre cuts or any other revisions
Production cam - when send cam to workstation
instance cam - for each instance if one instance is scribed. also called weld marking. not used much - usually two mark items.
