There are three potential routes to the nesting process:
Working on Contract specific nesting where the nesting process can be accessed on the Contract Ribbon after the Detail Listing is imported. By accessing the Nesting and Ordering module from the Contract Ribbon, any lotted and released mark items will be seen in the Items to Nest Tab.
Continuing down the same route, working inside a linear Contract specific process to get to nesting, you can also choose to select mark items from another Contract by selecting the Contracts tab and selecting the additional lots or phases required.
using the multi- Contract nesting principal to build nests outside the existing Contract. By using this process, you do not need to have an active Contract selected to perform this action. By going to Production> Nesting and Ordering and following the instructions below, you have access to mark items across all active Contracts to nest together.
To access the Nesting and Ordering Module from the Contract Ribbon, you must ensure you have the following:

By following the process of either importing via the wizard or manually, getting the material list into the Contract will automatically allow access to the Nesting and Ordering module. This can be seen when the module lights up on the Contract Ribbon. However, the mark items in the Detail Listing cannot be accessed in the nesting module without first being processed through the Production Lotting module.
Marks Lotted and Released in Production Lotting.
Access the Lotting module and select the mark items that need to be nested. Lot them and set their status to Released. This will make them available in the Nesting and Ordering module where they will appear under the Not Covered tab and now be available for nesting. Continue to Starting the nest for information on beginning the nesting process.
To process additional mark items associated with other Contracts when working on a Contract specific nest, you can navigate to the Contracts tab and use the grid to filter for lots and phases that contain the mark items you require. Only released lots are available to nest.
To add these to the Items to Nest tab, continue the process as per Multi- Contract Nesting seen below.

You can nest any mark item from any Contract together in the same batch. Use the following instructions to select mark items from one or more Contracts. Before you can begin the Nesting and Ordering process, you must have a Detailed Listing in place for the Contracts that you are going to use, See About detailed listings for more information and the mark items you intend to nest to must be lotted and released.
1. Go to Production > Nesting and Ordering.
Contracts that have a Detailed
Listing are shown.
2. If necessary, you can filter the list of Contracts
to narrow the available range to nest.
To do this, type your search criteria into the fields at the top of the
page. This includes the option to only show open Contracts
in the results.
You can search for a Contract by Name.
For example, the following search returns a list of records with a name
that begins with 15.

3. Click Search.
Contracts that have a Detailed
Listing and that match your search criteria are listed.
4. To view (and ultimately select) mark items from a single
contract, double click a line.
To view (and ultimately select) mark items from multiple contracts, select
multiple relevant lines and click Actions
(button) > Nest all selected contracts.
In both cases, the Production Nesting and Ordering
form is displayed.

5. On the Production Nesting and Ordering - Contracts form:
The Available Contract Phases/Lots grid is
a list of Contracts, broken down
by phase and lot, that have mark items that are available for nesting.
They are displayed with coloured flags, indicating their status. These
are:
Status Flag |
Description |
| None of the released items for the Phase/ lot have been nested. | |
| Some released items for the phase/lot have been nested. | |
|
All released items for the phase/lot have been nested. |
6. Select the phases/lots that contain the mark items that you want to nest. To do this:
Select
one or more lines in the grid and click the
button. If you wish to move a line back use the
button.
The contract phase/lot moves to the Contract
Phases/Lots Selected for Nesting grid.
You
can now view the mark items that are available in the phases or lots
that you have selected.
To do this, click the Items to Nest tab.
On this page the nesting process can be performed.

On the Production Nesting and Ordering - Items to Nest form:
Navigate to the tab indicating the Not Covered mark items.
Select the mark items that you want to nest.
Click Actions (button) > Nesting & Ordering and then proceed to select how the nest will be processed. The options are to either process the nest Manually or use the Autocut function. In either instance, you can choose to process only the selected items or every mark item in the grid.

Regardless of the decision to process manually or with Autocut,
the Nesting Wizard is launched once a selection
has been made.
See The Nesting
Wizard for information about continuing the Nesting
and Ordering process.
