About grades

You can define a library of steel grades using the Grades form in the Items & Inventory module. Each grade is given a ranking called the rating value, to show whether it is comparable to, higher than or lower than other steel grades. For example, if grade S275JR material has a rating of 1 and grade S355JR material has a rating of 2, then S355JR is classed as a higher grade material.

A grade is specified for each Section Type on the Item - Details form.

Grades are used in various modules in STRUMIS including nesting and in preliminary or detailed listings where details about the steel sections are required to fabricate various marks. During the nesting process, you can swap the specified steel section for an alternative of a comparable grade, or one of a higher or lower grade.

For the purposes of looking up a grade when adding steel to a Prelim or Detailed listing, Cross References are also included to help identify different ways in which third party detailing packages display them.
