
When you edit or add a new item, the Details tab is displayed. It shows basic information for the item. For steel items, this tab also includes all the physical properties, such as dimensions, weight per linear metre and surface area.

Item Type |
Specify whether your item is a steel item or a non-steel item (see About the Item Library). If you select Steel Item, the Steel Section Properties become available. |
Unique Name |
If this is a steel item, this field is populated automatically using information that you enter in the Steel Section Properties. If this is a non-steel item, this field is available and you can enter a name. |
Alternative Name |
Enter an alternative name for your item if required. |
Description |
If this is a steel item, this field is populated automatically using information that you enter in the Steel Section Properties. If this is a non-steel item, this field is available and you can enter a description. |
Cost Code |
Select a Cost Code from the drop-down list. |
Weight |
Specify a weight for your item. |
Waste/Scrap Cost Code |
Select a Cost Code for the waste from the drop-down list. |
The fields in this part of the form are available if you selected Steel Item for the Item Type field above.

Specify the Section Code, Size and Grade and complete the other properties (Density, Surface Area, Cross Section Area, and Perimeter) to define the steel section.
In the grid, enter values for the Width, Depth, Web Thickness, Flange Thickness and Root Radius of the steel section. These dimensions are displayed graphically in a 2D of 3D format in the Steel Section Preview and can be moved between using the available tabs. The 3D view can be rotated to look at different faces.

This grid will appear if the item selected is associated with a Section Type that is set as a Custom Girder. For more information see About Section Type. As you enter infomation intoj the fields available the Preview panel will update with the dimensions you enter. If you are struggling to understand what each dimension is, refer to the annotation on the 2D preview

Select the profile shape of the Custom Girder. The options are I profile or Box Profile. |
Type |
Set the type to either symmetrical or Asymmetrical If you select symmetrical then the options to enter a Bottom Flange thickness and width will be removed. |
Depth |
Give the custom girder a depth value to set the distance between top and bottom flange. (dimension includes flange thickness). |
True Web Width Web Thickness Web Offset |
Give the Web dimensional properties. |
TF Width TF Thickness |
Specify the size of the Top Flange. |
BF Width BF Thickness |
Specify the size of the Bottom Flange, if the option is available to do so.This will not be active if the beam type is set to Symmetrical as the purpose of a symmetrical beam is to have the flange dimensions equal to one another. |
