Estimate - Details

Use this form to enter basic details for your Estimate, including a link to any related quotes that you may have previously raised.

 

Fields

Description

Status

The estimate can have a status of Open or Closed.

While you are working on the Estimate, the status should be Open. When you have finished, set the status to Closed.

Estimate

This field is automatically populated if the Auto Estimate Name option is tEstimate.urned on in Enquiries & Estimating Options; otherwise, type in a unique name for the

Description

This is a free text field. Use it to give a little more information about the Estimate.

Estimate Type

The options are:

§               Take Off - use this for a typical drawing take off.

§               Bill of Quantities (BOQ) - use this to produce a schedule of rates once the Estimate is complete.

When you save the Estimate, you cannot change this setting.

Default Grade

Select a Default Grade from the drop-down list. This is used to automatically populate the Grade field when adding steel items to the estimate.

Facility

Select a Facility from the drop-down list. This will be populated with the user's default Facility.

Default Price Source

Specify whether you want to use prices from a stockist or from a mill by default. This determines which price from the Material Costs library is used.

Currency

This field shows the Currency for the Facility that you selected. You cannot change it.

Apply Labour Usages

Specify whether you want to apply Labour Usages.

If you select Yes, you can select to automatically apply a Labour Usage by matching the Subsection name. This means that when you add a steel section on the Estimate - Take Off or BOQ form (depending on the option that you selected above for Estimate Type), the related Labour Usage is added if it exists and if the name of the Labour Usage is the same as the name of the Subsection.

Apply Fittings

See About fittings.

The options are:

§               Yes
Allows you to add Fittings to the Estimate. Use the Associate Fitting quantities with Steel Item quantities option to update the quantity of Fittings if the steel quantity changes.

§               No
No fittings are added to the Estimate.

§               Use Percentages
You can define fittings as a percentage weight of the parent bar.

Fittings defined in this way are applied to every steel item in the Estimate Take off or BOQ.

Default settings can be defined in Enquiries & Estimating Options.

Fabrication Rate Per Hour

Complete these fields if you elected to use percentages to Estimate times and costings for Fittings in the Apply Fittings field above.

Apply Line Number Start Number Increment

Line numbering can be used to sequentially number each line added to an Estimate, either manually or automatically. The number default can be set using the settings in Enquiry and Estimate Options or chosen on an independent basis depending on the Estimate.

§               Off
Line numbering is not used.

§               Automatic by Estimate
When you select this option, you can specify a Start Number and an Increment. If, for example, you specify a start number of 10 and an increment of 10, the line numbers start at 10 and, every time that you add an item to the Estimate, the number increases to 20, 30, 40 and so on. The Line Number column on the Take Off or BOQ form is updated. Items are numbered sequentially throughout the Estimate, irrespective of the Subsection. You cannot back-number previously added items using this option, numbers will only be applied to new line items.

 

§               Automatic by Subsection
This is similar to Automatic by Estimate, but items are numbered sequentially throughout each subsection. You can specify an individual Start Number and Increment per subsection.

§               Manual
The extra field that is displayed on the Estimate Steel Item, Estimate Non-steel Item or Estimate Free Line Item form is not automatically populated. You must manually enter a number.

 

 

 

Grid

The grid lists enquiry records that are related to this Estimate. To link an enquiry to this estimate, select the enquiry from the drop-down list in the Enquiry column. This will only show enquires that have not already been linked to an estimate. You can also create a new enquiry record by clicking the ellipsis button in the Enquiry column. When you select an Enquiry, the other information is automatically populated.

You may associate multiple Enquiries to an Estimate, if for example you have received the same Enquiry from multiple customers.

Actions button

The options in the table below are available on all tabs of the Estimate form.

Updates the value fields such as value, weight and area, within the Estimate.

Reports

The options are:

§               Cost Code Summary Report
Prints a breakdown of the Estimate into Cost Codes.

§               Print Estimate Report
This is a full Estimate breakdown of costs for material, Fittings and Labour.

§               Print Enquiry Quotation Report
This is the quotation document to send to the customer.

§               Email Enquiry Quotation Report as PDF
Creates a PDF version of the report, which is attached to a blank email using your default email system. If you do not have the default email settings applied to the System Settings, this will be inactive.

§               Email Estimate Report as PDF
Creates a PDF version of the report, which is attached to a blank email using your default email system. If you do not have the default email settings applied to the System Settings, this will be inactive

AutoCut

The options are:

§               Estimate
Calculates an accurate waste figure for all of the linear material in the Estimate based on the library of standard lengths.

§               Subsection
Calculates an accurate waste figure for all of the linear material in the selected Subsection based on the library of standard lengths.

§               View AutoCut Results
Displays the total length, weight, waste percentage and waste value (based on current estimate rates) for each item.

§               View Requisition Lengths
Displays a list of suggested standard lengths for purchasing.

§               View Cutting List
Displays a basic cutting plan for the suggested standard lengths.

§               Add Waste as Estimate Extra
Allows you to add the calculated waste value to the Estimate as an Extra.

Import Estimate

Allows you to import a material list into the estimate, using the Import Estimate Wizard.
