Use this form to specify basic information about a workstation, in particular the CAM details that are exchanged with the machine if it uses CNC.

Field |
Description |
Name |
Give your workstation a name; for example, Drill or Saw. |
Description |
This is a free text field. Use it to provide a little more information about the workstation. |
Routing Enabled |
When you select this check box, the Generate Contract Work Order Wizard includes this workstation when it is trying to establish the most efficient route through the workshop for the material during production. |
Facility |
Select a facility from the drop-down list. |
Item Location |
Select the location of the workstation from the drop-down list. These locations are defined on the Locations form. |
Workshop Area |
Use this field to be more specific
about the location of the workstation. Select an area from the
drop-down list, or click the Ellipsis |
Combine Consecutive Processes |
The physical machine that is represented by this workstation record may be able to perform more than one task, for example, cutting and drilling. The Combine Consecutive Processes check box can be used when a machine can perform more than one task, such as cutting and drilling, in this scenario when you move the material through Production, the material will be moved to the next process after the process this Workstation can perform.
Sort |
Use this field to specify the order in which the workstations are selected by the Generate Contract Work Order Wizard. |
CAM details |
Output Path |
If this workstation record represents a CNC machine, you can specify the folder that is used to send STRUMIS-stored or STRUMIS-generated CNC files to the machine. See About NC files. The output path can contain runtime variables, which are denoted by % symbols; for example, you might define the output folder as: C:\output path\%Contract%\%Phase%-%Lot%\ At runtime (meaning, when a part in Production Control is selected and CAM data is sent to the Workstation) the following parts of the path definition are replaced: § %Contract% is replaced with the name of the contract § %Phase% is replaced with the name of the phase § %Lot% is replaced with the name of the lot This means that the actual output path will be, for example C:\output path\C-00001\1-1\. See Runtime variables below for more information. |
Post Processor |
Post processors are used to extract operational instructions from a CAM file and save them into machine specific files. The file is not generated until the option to Send CAM Data to Workstation is selected in Production Control. See Post processors below for a list of the available options. |
Parameter File |
If the post processor requires a
parameter (.par) file, specify it here. Click the Ellipsis C:\Program Files\AceCad Software Ltd\StruM.I.S evolution\Post Processors\par |
Stamp Text |
Specify the actual text that will be sent to the CNC machine and hard stamped onto the material. You can use standard text and runtime variables, or a combination of both. Standard text You can use any standard text or symbols, however this will depend on the available characters you have at the machine to physically provide the stamp. Runtime variables The available runtime variables; these are displayed as tool tips when you hover over the Stamp Text field. For example, you might define the following stamp text: %Contract%-%Phase%-%Lot%-%Mark Item% At runtime, the following parts of the definition are replaced: § %Contract% is replaced with the name of the contract § %Phase% is replaced with the name of the phase § %Lot% is replaced with the name of the lot § %Mark Item% is replaced with the name of the mark item The actual stamp will be, for example, C0001-Phase1-Lot2-PLT4. See Runtime variables below for more information. |
Apply Stamp Location Stamp X Location Stamp Y Location |
Select this check box to specify the position of the stamp text. Use the x and y co-ordinates. |
No checks are made to ensure that the x and y locations are within the dimensions of the bar. |
Standard Hourly Rate |
Specify the cost per hour to run the machine. This value is used to generate costs and employee time sheets. |
Overtime Hourly Rate |
Specify an overtime rate. |
Default Report |
Specify a default report. It is recommended that the nature of this report relates to the workstation process. |
Default Printer |
Specify where the report is printed, for example, the printer closest to the machine. Default printers can be changed at anytime whilst using the system. |
