The mapping fields will be populated when you preview the Cad file. All columns headings found in the model will be mapped to the matching field and it is from here that you can rearrange these designations as needed.

Once the Cad file has been loaded through the Preview function the el ipse buttons will be active. When you access this button on any field a new window will open and it is from here that fields can be mapped. If you do not wish to use this option, all fields are open to manual editing.

General Options

The Cad Interface comes complete with a number of standard options relating to the way in which

  • Ignore Cold Rolled- Any cold rolled items listed in the model will be ignored on import.

  • Use Cad Weight-  The section's weight property listed in the item library will be ignored.

  • Use Cad Area- The section's cross sectional area property listed in the item library will be ignored.

  • Revise Mark, Phase and Lot Quantity Changes- Mark, Phase & Lot quantities will be revised as normal. When this option is NOT selected the Mark, Phase & Lot quantities will be added to the existing records, if the model is re-imported.

Estimating Options

If the Cad Interface has been set as an Estimate type in the details tab, then the Estimate Options field will be activated in settings giving the option to automate some of the estimating functions.

If Labour Usages were included in the model, then the box can be ticked. When this is active, the column that applies to the Labour Usage in the model will need to be identified within the labour Usage box in Mappings.

If Fittings were included in the model and you wish to automatically include them in the Estimate, use the menu to identify this. The options list is related to the options available at the start of an Estimate in the Details field. You can choose to either apply fittings, ignore them or apply them as a percentage.

If you have the apply Labour Usages option selected and then choose to Apply Fittings, then the fittings will be set up in relation to the labour.  For more information see About Labour Usages.

Detailed Listing Options

If the Interface is to be used in conjunction with a Detail Listing, one of three options can be specified:

  • Create Multi-Member Assemblies – This is the default option, this will create Multi-Member Shop Assemblies if they are detected in the Cad Interface file.

  • Import Assemblies as Site Assembly – If Multi-Member Shop Assemblies are detected in the Cad Interface file; they will be converted to Site Assemblies.

  • Don’t Create Multi-Member Assemblies – This option will ignore all Multi-Member Assemblies and convert them to Single Marks.

Check the way in which the model has been detailed ahead of using these options in the interface. Use the Preview option to load the desired model into STRUMIS to establish the best use of these options.
